The first archaeological survey of the Shiant Isles was commissioned in 2000 and the archaeologists' report is included here, as well as the account of their first excavation on the islands. It is hoped that this archaeological programme will continue over several years to the point where it is possible to reconstruct the full occupation history of the Shiants over the last five or six millennia. There will be updates as new information becomes available.

New Archaeology on the Shiants 2006: An Interim Report

Our sixth season of fieldwork on the Shiants extended from late May to early July 2006. Its principal aim was to complete the open excavations, preparatory to consolidating the results of the first six years of research on the island. This is an interim report which describes the most important and interesting findings so far.
