| The first archaeological survey of the Shiant Isles
was commissioned in 2000 and the archaeologists' report is included here,
as well as the account of their first excavation on the islands. It is
hoped that this archaeological programme will continue over several years
to the point where it is possible to reconstruct the full occupation history
of the Shiants over the last five or six millennia. There will be updates
as new information becomes available.
